Community Manager Appreciation Day: Give the Community Manager in Your Life a Hug

Today is Community Manager Appreciation Day! Seek out the online and offline community managers in your organization and let them know how much they do for your company and your customers (or members).
Communities provide the trust, value, and relationships to help organizations meet a variety of very real goals. Here are a few examples of ways that our customers use online communities:
- Communities make the sales process smoother.
- Communities differentiate your company in a competitive market.
- Communities increase customer retention through better member engagement.
- Communities boost event attendance and attendee satisfaction.
- Communities bring down customer support costs and revenue generation.
Unsung Heros
The sometimes in the hype-heavy world of business-to-business social software, organizations and vendors focus too much on the technology and innovation of the online community platform itself. Since building and maintaining relationships is not new to business or Internet strategies, the people on the frontlines who keep online communities successful are not always recognized as the everyday business heros that we know they are.
The reality is that without community managers coordinating content work flows across the organization, listening and responding to customers and partners, and advocating for the community and its members to senior management, organizations would not see the impact on their bottom line, growth, customer satisfaction that they see today.
